Freshness, as arithmetic

How old your coffee ever gets

Coffee does not spoil, it fades. The rhythm you pick decides how many days old the oldest cup you drink will be.

Day 30
the oldest cup, just before the next delivery lands

Thirty days at the far end. Right for filter coffee, though the first week’s brightness will have gone by then.

DAY 90
Days 1–7

Still gassy

The decoction froths high and tastes sharper than it will. Some houses prefer it here; most give it three days.

Days 8–21

What we roast for

Cocoa and jaggery, thick against hot milk. Every roast profile on this estate is aimed at this fortnight.

After day 21

The finish goes first

It stays drinkable for months. What it loses is the long ending, which is the part people actually miss.

How it runs

A standing order, not a plan

There is no membership, no tier and nothing to log into. The same arrangement the estate has used for decades, written down properly.

01

Two evenings before the roast, a note goes out with the lot and the block it came off.

02

Skip it, move it, change the grind or stop entirely from that note. No form.

03

Roasted on the Tuesday or Thursday, ground if you asked for powder, sealed the same hour.

04

Card is charged that morning, at the price you started on, for as long as you keep it.

Before you start

Four things people ask first

Unsure which rhythm suits the house? Tell us how many decoctions a day and we will do the arithmetic for you.

Talk to us
How much coffee is a fortnight?

A 250 g pouch makes about eighteen tumblers. Two decoctions a day in one house empties it in a fortnight, which is why that is the default rhythm.

Can I change what comes each time?

Yes, from the note that goes out before each roast. Swap the pepper for cardamom, double the coffee, or drop back to coffee alone for a month.

What happens in the monsoon?

Coffee keeps going; cardamom follows the harvest. If a pouch cannot be filled from the current lot we tell you and hold the delivery rather than substitute.

Does the price move?

Not while your order stands. New orders follow the crop, but an existing standing order keeps the price it began on.

How long do your products stay fresh, and how should I store them?

For the best quality and freshness, store each product as recommended:

  • Pepper: Best used within 3 years. Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Coffee: Best used within 6 months. Transfer to an airtight container after opening.
  • Cardamom: Best used within 1 year. Store in an airtight container.
  • Honey: Best used within 2 years. Transfer to a clean glass container for storage.
